In an episode of ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast’, the sports analyst had a chat with former NBA player Charles Barkley. The latest episode of the podcast was released on October 26, 2022. “Well… you know the problem is, my phone has been blowing up. But I tell them like, ‘Guys, I am very well paid but I don’t have $4 billion just sitting around,'” said Barkley.

Furthermore, Barkley said that the team would probably go for about $4 billion dollars. However, he was not willing to waste that kind of money to be able to own just a 5% stake. Barkley explained that he would rather have the amount than spend it on a minor percentage just to be called a team co-owner.

Charles Barkley says he is in if Barack Obama is involved

Reflecting on what Charles Barkley said, Bill Simmons agreed that a person can no longer run the entire team by being a minor stake owner. However, Simmons broke a piece of big news as he said that the former President of the US might be involved in one of the potential buyers’ groups. Simmons speculated that in case Barack Obama was involved, the investors wouldn’t mind making him the face of the franchise. Interestingly, Barkley then chimed in and said that if Obama called him, he would definitely be buying in.

“If President Obama calls me and say, ‘Hey, would you be a part-owner of the team?’ Hell yeah! You know I got so much love and admiration for that guy,” said Barkley.
