Unlike his siblings, Myles O’Neal hasn’t followed in his NBA Hall of Famer father’s footsteps. Instead, he has developed a taste for one of Shaquille O’Neal’s other interests, music. After establishing himself as a supermodel worth millions, Myles ventured into electronic music and lit up concerts and events with his DJing skills. Now, Myles has left EDM enthusiasts flabbergasted after he dropped his debut single Superficial. Yet, it rendered his grandmother clueless.

Myles O’Neal dropped the track Superficial featuring Hadar Arora, a couple of weeks back. However, his grandmother had trouble finding what the lyrics of the song meant. When his grandmother raised the concern with him, even Myles got confused. Now, Shaq’s son has issued a clarification on the matter.

In Superficial, Myles O’Neal is joined by the singer and songwriter Hadar Arora. While O’Neal’s electrified beats are enough to light up any dance floor, Arora’s energetic voice comes into play and elevates the mood further. The song goes, When I get drunk, I’m a supermodel. Dance on top of all the tables. You can stare at me and my girls. I don’t really care if it’s superficial.”  These lines sung by Arora prompted O’Neal’s grandmother to raise a tricky question.

Soon after the release, Shaquille O’Neal’s son got a call from his grandmother. She took the part from the song which says, “you can stare at me and my girls” and asked Myles what exactly the word ‘girls’ means in “me and my girls.” She went on further to ask if ‘girls’ meant breasts or fellow female friends. The question had also left Myles clueless. Now, the 25-year-old seems to have gotten clarity.

“It’s a double entendre. Up to the listener to decide, the meaning could really be either-or. For me, I don’t have b**bs so it would have to be ‘me and my homies’,” said Myles O’Neal in an interview with IEDM, alluding to the lyrics that troubled his grandmother.

Shaquille O’Neal paved the way for Myles O’Neal

Myles O’Neal’s siblings have already been living up to their father’s reputation by venturing into basketball. Being a model, the 25-year-old has not had anything to bond with his father. However, growing up in the O’Neal household, his father instilled in him a love for music. Shaq, being the rapper and DJ he is, had always played the songs of Biggie, Tupac, Eminem, and many other hip-hop legends, in his home. Myles pointed out in his recent interview that the songs played by his father enriched his music taste.

Myles has also toured with his father, DJ Diesel, on numerous occasions. Myles owes quite a lot of his DJing skill set to these tours with Shaq. Besides, Myles has famously performed at Shaq’s Fun House, which is an annual music event organized by Shaquille O’Neal and Medium Rare.
