Dennis Rodman and his unfiltered self were difficult to predict even after his exit from the NBA. The Rebound King won three consecutive NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls from 1996 to 1998. Following his stint with the Bulls, his stay in the NBA was short-lived. The legend moved away from the NBA to different leagues and countries at the turn of the century. And when he tried to return to the NBA in 2003 for what would have been an incredible comeback, he failed. This resulted in a lot of angry outbursts and instances of rude behavior from Rodman.

Back in 2003, on a drunken night, the NBA legend burst out on his manager as he was unable to return to the NBA. The Bulls legend intended to make a comeback in 2003 with the Sacramento Kings or the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dennis Rodman on failing to join the NBA

Dennis Rodman faded away from the NBA once he left the Chicago Bulls. He went to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1999. And after his one-year stint at the Dallas Mavericks, the Rebound King made some unpredictable decisions at the age of 40.?

Rodman moved to the NBA G-League and then to the basketball league in Mexico. However, in 2003, at the age of 42, he wanted to return to the NBA.? The comeback was unsuccessful as most teams didn?t want the aging superstar.

This failure took a toll on Rodman and he became even more unpredictable. He would sometimes lash out at his manager and close friends to express his anger. This 2003 documentary captured that phase in the Pistons’ legend’s life.

?I don?t need you, for nothing? the five-time NBA Champion said to his manager, Darren Prince once. He further added looking at him, ?You know what Darren, I don?t need you at all?.

Rodman was visibly frustrated with his future prospects. His agent responded back by reminding him that he?s 42 years old and teams aren?t interested, citing the example of the Minnesota Timberwolves rejecting him.

His agent also added how he isn?t doing any favors to himself by drinking all day while expecting an NBA contract. There were also reports that Rodman?s motorcycle accident during that time also might have factored in his rejections.

The Bulls legend was a different man back then. Since his retirement, he has matured to be a sensible individual. In his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech, the 61-year-old decided to address his mistakes in life.
