Stephen Curry has always had support from his whole family who helped him push towards greatness. His parents, Dell and Sonya Curry played a huge role in not only helping him achieve greatness but also helping his siblings. While his younger brother plays in the NBA as well, his sister gave up on the sport when she was young.
Dell and Sonya were on a podcast where they described how it was raising their three children. While talking about their daughter, Sydel, they mentioned why she didn’t want to continue playing basketball. Dell started, “I think Sydel played basketball till her 9th-grade year”. Sydel came home one day and told Dell, “I don’t think I wanna play basketball anymore”.

She was scared to tell her dad about it as she felt she’d be disappointing them. “She thought it was a big disappointment”, Sonya chuckled. Dell told her that they weren’t disappointed at all. He goes on to mention that he always had a hitch about Sydel giving up on basketball.
“I could tell when I watched her play, she was a good shooter but I could tell her heart wasn’t in that”, Dell said. Sonya concurred with Dell saying, “that wasn’t her passion”. However, she felt sad as she believed Sydel had it in her. “I think she had such a good shot and I just really thought that she would play basketball. Even more so than the boys”, she said.

Sonya and Dell can be proud of the way they’ve raised their children. Stephen Curry is a four-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, one-time Finals MVP, and eight-time All-Star to go along with numerous other achievements. He is widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time and he was arguably the driving factor in changing the way the game of basketball is played.
While Steph has established himself as an all-time great, his younger brother, Seth has made a name for himself too. Although he went undrafted, he has ascended the ranks and become an excellent role player. He isn’t that far behind his brother in terms of shooting.
