Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls against the Detroit Pistons in the 80s was a rivalry like no other. The Detroit Pistons with Isiah Thomas was one of the most formidable teams at the end of the 80s decade. The Pistons beat the Bulls for the better part of the late 80s, becoming one of the few teams to beat Jordan’s Bulls in playoffs. Although the Bulls finally got the better of them in the early 90s, Pistons got on their nerves for a long time.

Isiah Thomas recently mentioned that the public dislike of him and his team by Jordan is uncalled for. Nick Wright had an interesting theory on why the six-time NBA Champion disliked the Pistons legend.

Nick Wright’s theory on Michael Jordan and his hate for the Pistons

Michael Jordan and his resentment for the Detroit side is no secret. The Detroit Pistons were a big thorn to the Chicago Bulls and Jordan, keeping them away from the trophy. The 14-time All-Star delivered great performances consistently even before winning his first Championship, making it difficult not to win anything at the end of the season.

Recently the Pistons legend Isiah Thomas mentioned how Jordan’s distaste for him and his team was uncalled for. Thomas mentioned that Jordan wasn’t on his best behavior during his whole documentary “The Last Dance”, making it ironic when called an “a**hole”.

Nick Wright while talking about Thomas’s statements, had an interesting theory on Jordan, “There’s a reason Jordan has such disgust for Isiah. Isaiah’s the only guy from his era that kinda has something over him.”  Wright went on to explain how even though Larry Bird defeated MJ regularly in the playoffs Bird was playing against a bad Bulls side. Whereas Thomas and the Pistons had a great playoff record against Chicago Bulls.

Wright went on to add “Isiah’s the one guy that played in Jordan’s prime and his era that Jordan knows but he’d never admit it, but Isiah can look into the eyes and say ‘I got the better of you’ “

Wright’s comments were taken with hilarity as others mentioned how Thomas might already have said it at some point. Regardless of such a legendary career, Jordan’s dislike for the Pistons can be explained by this theory.
