It is safe to say that there have been many famous people who rose to fame in Los Angeles and became a part of history. To that list, we would like to add Denzel Washington and Magic Johnson as well. Their journey from growing up in a humble set-up to traveling to a big city with many dreams and working hard to become a household name has always inspired many. Not only has the LA public life given them opportunities, but it has also given them the chance to make lifelong friends.

The friendship between Magic Johnson and Denzel Washington has lasted for a long time over the years. It had its inception when the internet hadn’t yet become a widespread phenomenon. Similarly, a video from the past is now making the rounds online, demonstrating a friendship that spans generations.

Denzel was pictured with his wife Pauletta at the premiere of the post-apocalyptic movie “The Book of Eli” in the video. It took place in January 2010 at Graumann’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie Johnson were at the event too to cheer for Denzel. Johnson was asked to comment on Washington during his red carpet-walk, to which he replied from a place of admiration.

On being asked about his relationship with his neighbor and friend Denzel, Johnson showed all of the love he had for him. “I gotta support Denzel, we love Denzel [Washington], we are neighbors. Anything that he puts his hands on or gets involved in or acts in is always going to be great and amazing. He is a top-notch amazing actor and a person as well,” Johnson said.

This is not the first time they have professed  their admiration for one another. In addition to sharing many stories and laughter with the audience, the duo participated in the Boys and Girls Club of America’s National Conference.

During the event, the Academy Award winner recalled, “The Showtime Lakers gave us so many memories, so many beautiful days, so many winning days. There are too many memories to count from that time right up till this time.”
