“I Had to Pick the Right Girl”: Stephen Curry, Happily Married Since 11 Years Now, Had to Carefully Choose Women He Hung Out With in School for an “Old-School” Reason

Throughout his journey to superstardom, Stephen Curry has had a lot of support from his family. He has had a loving wife since 2011 and they now have three kids together. However, things weren’t always easy with the girls for the Golden State Warriors star.

Curry revealed in an interview how his parents were very strict with him while growing up. They had established various rules in their household such as night-time curfews, completing chores before going out, etc. But the best one out of these was in regards to girls. Curry wasn’t allowed to hang out with a girl unless his parents had met the girl’s parents.

Stephen Curry called his parents “old school”. He said, “I knew that that was the situation so I had to pick the right girl and obviously know the whole back story before I initiated that whole process”. Curry had to convince the girl to go through the whole process as well.

“Before we go to the movies I need your parents to come over to the house and just sit down with my parents, just have a talk”, Curry told the girls. He continued, “We’re a very welcoming and warm family, they just want to get to know you, that’s all”.

This made things a little difficult for Curry as making the girls’ parents meet his parents was the first step. He said, “We skipped a lot of the middle ground before we got to meeting the parents. That was step one”.

Stephen Curry has a very supportive family

Although Curry has strict parents, he had a loving upbringing with his brother and sister. Stephen’s dad, Dell Curry was an NBA player himself and played in the league for 16 years. His mother, Sonya was also an athlete in college but eventually received a degree in education.

Steph’s wife Ayesha Curry, is a celebrity chef and cooking television personality. They’ve known each other since high school and got married in 2011. They have two daughters and one son together. Steph’s whole family can be seen regularly attending games and cheering him on.

Steph also has a brother, Seth Curry who also plays in the NBA for the Brooklyn Nets. His sister, Sydel is a social media personality and is married to Steph’s former teammate Damion Lee.
