Michael Jordan retired a couple of decades ago but continues to be in the news. More recently, Scottie Pippen has left no stone unturned to sully Jordan’s legacy. This, however, doesn’t mean that MJ wasn’t a news fixture earlier. Much of it used to be the comparison with LeBron James, but Pip has already said too much about MJ. Stacey King, his former teammate, also had something to say about Air Jordan.

In the previous eras of the NBA, rookies had to undergo a lot of trials by senior players. It involved doing chores for the established names. The practice has withered away over time but has left many anecdotes.

During a conversation with Craig Ehlo on his podcast Gimme the Hot Sauce, King revealed the rigors of rookie haze. The rookie haze phenomenon had young players carry stuff for the experienced players and put up with their pranks and antics. The Bulls’ Color Commentator hated this hazing.
“Jordan used to make us grab every bag. That’s when we were flying commercial. You gotta get to the turnstile, you got to bring all the bags to the bus. We have to do all kinds of stuff. I mean we got rookie haze, I hated it,” said King

Delving into the subject further, King observed that the rookie haze phenomenon is dissipating. Since he regularly travels with the current Chicago Bulls team, he can observe their work methods.
“You don’t even see that now. I travel with the team all the time as a broadcaster and there is no rookie responsibility. Rookies don’t carry bags, rookies don’t do anything. They don’t pick up cheques and it’s really sad because that’s like a rite of passage when you come into the NBA.”, continued King.
Stacey King’s podcast has been on the news recently. This happened when Scottie Pippen, during one of the episodes called Michael Jordan a horrible player before he arrived.

On his YouTube channel, this has now become the most-watched episode. Recently, Reggie Miller weighed in on the subject and called Pippen’s comments poorly worded. Analyst Stephen A. Smith took exception to the comments and reminded Pip about the legacy of Michael Jordan.

At any rate, these are indications that the former Bulls player’s podcast is thriving and can see further growth. Will we ever see MJ on his podcast? That is expecting a lot, I guess.
