In the latest episode of the Big Podcast with Shaq, co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams joined Shaquille O’Neal for an hour-long session. In one instance, Nischelle asked Diesel about the new nickname. He shocked everyone when he said that the “Dark Nowitzki” nickname was not new. Shaq then stated that people like him and Adams can force things to be viral because they are funny. However, he stated he did not expect “Dark Nowitzki” to go viral, but it blew up.

He then talked about how he made Kristen Ledlow introduce him by the new nickname. Shaq said, “But I just made her say it the other day and she was like ‘I can’t say.’ I was like, ‘I know you’re white but it’s all good.'”

While talking about it, The Big Diesel also claimed that the nickname was 30 years old. But that might be a bit of an exaggeration from him because Dirk Nowitzki was only 14 years old 30 years ago. However, Shaq is a storyteller, and he exaggerates stuff at times to make it interesting. He even admitted it in his documentary that was released recently.
