The Brooklyn Nets have been neck-deep in controversy this season. Be it the Kyrie Irving drama, the departure of Steve Nash, or the potential hiring of Ime Udoka, the Nets have seen it all. Evidently, the franchise has yet again managed to garner fans’ attention and for a change, not for negative reasons. The Nets have finally appointed a new head coach for the team and he has seemingly managed to gain the fans’ approval.

The Brooklyn Nets apparently decided that they didn’t need any more drama. According to the New York Post, the Nets opted to hire Jacque Vaughn instead of former Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka. The decision was announced on November 9, 2022. It probably would not come as a surprise to fans since it was earlier reported that several people from the management were strongly opposing billionaire owner Joe Tsai’s decision to potentially hire Udoka.

Given that the Nets were already struggling with the Kyrie Irving controversy, the front office probably thought that they didn’t need Udoka’s baggage as well. Vaughn had temporarily taken over after Nash’s departure before being promoted to head coach. He mentioned that he was the write-in candidate but it did not bother him.

“I said to my wife: I might have not been her first choice, and we?ve been together 20 years, so it can all work out,” said Vaughn.

Amid the Kyrie Irving issue, NBA fans have already taken a likeness to the new Nets coach

Ime Udoka is on a year-long suspension from the Boston Celtics?for “violating team policies”. The Celtics head coach was earlier found guilty of having a consensual workplace affair with one of the female staff. While some might agree that Udoka was a better choice, his current reputation is likely not really something that the Nets would want to deal with at the moment. On the other hand, Jacque Vaughn has already proven to be an efficient coach after he took over for Steve Nash.

In contrast to the Brooklyn Nets‘ 2-5 start under Nash, the team has gone 3-2 under Vaughn so far. Additionally, the Nets managed to keep their opponents from exceeding 100 points in four straight games.?Furthermore, Vaugh’s peculiar comparison between his new position and his marriage has left the NBA fans in splits.

On the Kyrie Irving front, the Nets have issued a series of tasks for him to do. Following the completion, the suspended Nets star will likely be able to rejoin the team.
