We have seen Michael Jordan become not only one of the greatest basketball players but also one of the best businessmen in the world over the years. Back in the 90s, he was one of the most famous people in the world, and he brought a rush unlike anything else you would ever see on the hardwood.

Having him as a parent can be challenging at times. It’s true that being Jordan’s child brings a lot of opportunities and benefits – but it also brings a lot of responsibilities and expectations as well. This is especially true if you’re the child of one of the NBA’s greatest legends.

As a response to this, Jordan’s daughter Jasmine Jordan shared her viewpoint. Growing up, she was surrounded by expectations and everyone wanted to know whether MJ’s children would be the next greatest of all.

Nevertheless, Jeffrey, Marcus and Jasmine Jordan wanted to be known as more than just the children of Jordan; they wanted to be known for their own qualities and personalities as well. 

Michael Jordan and ex-wife Juanita, decided to separate after having been married from 1989 to 2006. In 2013, Jordan married Yvette Prieto, and one year later in 2014, they welcomed twins Ysabel and Victoria into their lives.

The family was surrounded by rumors in the years following, but Jasmine addressed it and explained that Jordan had a special relationship with her. She also discussed their special bond.

During an interview, Jasmine shared some stories about her close relationship with her father and about her childhood. She spoke of how his brother, Jeffrey and Marcus were involved with basketball from the beginning. But for her, she had the opportunity to begin her own journey due to the fact that she was the only girl in the family.

She stated in the interview that she felt a lot less pressure being the only girl in the family. However, she was honest about her choices, “I danced, played volleyball, and even flag football. I tried basketball very briefly, but both my dad and I knew that it was not for me.”

“But during that time I was able to take away who my father was to everyone else, and that for sure brought us closer; to this day I still identify as daddy’s girl,” she added.

As of now, she is working as a field representative for the Jordan brand’s marketing division. Also, she uses her social platform to encourage, and celebrate the success of Black female athletes in the WNBA. We’d love to hear your opinions in the comments.
