Stephen Curry has come a long way from being NBA legend Dell Curry’s son. Since his debut in NBA with the Golden State Warriors, Steph has created an identity of his own. The baby-faced assassin had led the Warriors to four championship wins, with the latest one coming last season. Moreover, Curry was also awarded the 2022 Finals MVP for his dominating performances last season. However, Steph considering taking a completely different path instead of following his father’s footsteps in the NBA.

Steph was quite good at golf while growing up. Coming from a family of athletes, sports was always in Stephen’s vicinity. During an interview with Warriors broadcaster Jim Barnett in 2012, Steph talked about playing golf with his teammates Jeremy Tyler and Klay Thompson.?

Stephen Curry reckoned that he was the best golf player on the team and praised his teammates too. Jim asked the eight-time All-Star if he would have been on the tour if he had focused all his efforts on golf rather than basketball. Stephen replied, “I think about it but uh, it’s difficult to crack you know that consistent list on the PGA tour.”?

Steph reckoned it was quite hard to be competitive on the highest level. The 2-time MVP said a lot of people try to succeed, and many of them get there too. Stephen Curry added,?”I like to think if I had some raw talent, then maybe I could hone in and make it a profession. But, I think I made a good choice.”

Fortunately, Steph made the right choice by sticking to basketball. There is no doubt that his passion and hard work would have brought him success in golf. He would have definitely made golf champion Tiger Woods sweat a little. However, the NBA would have missed out on legendary players like Stephen Curry. Steph’s presence made the Golden State Warriors one of the most consistent teams in the league. They have won four championships since 2015 and currently look strong to win another ring next season.

Even players like LeBron James love watching Stephen Curry in action. King James has often praised Curry’s game and expressed his desire to play with him. Steph did not receive the appreciation he deserves from the NBA in his early days. However, the 34-year-old finally proved his critics wrong by winning the Finals MVP award last season.
