With the 2022 EuroBasket tournament looming, Luka Doncic and Goran Dragic will join forces on the Slovenian national team. Dragic will have the best seats in the building to witness Luka Magic showcase his on-court wizardry.

Doncic’s rise to become one of the league’s finest players has been meteoric. This only adds to Dragic’s excitement about teaming up with him. In a recent interview, the new Toronto Raptors guard expressed his excitement about representing his homeland alongside Doncic.

Goran Dragic has been a standout for Slovenia in recent years, but with Luka Doncic in the squad, he admitted he’ll have to take a back seat.

“In my opinion, I will play a little less minutes, it will not be at that level,” Dragic said. “I don’t know how much I played, 36 minutes per game? Everything will depend on how I feel. The role will definitely be different. I was Batman, but now I’ll be Robin.”

Goran Dragic was the driving force behind Slovenia’s EuroBasket triumph in 2017. The Slovenian offense was orchestrated by the point guard, who propelled his country to glory by scoring 35 points in the final. A 17-year-old Luka Doncic was also in the squad; however, he was the one who saw the veteran lead the charge.

This time though, he knows things will be different. With a blossomed Luka Doncic in the squad, the keys for the Slovenian offense will undoubtedly be in his hands.

Luka Doncic and Goran Dragic will run back their championship partnership in a few weeks. ‘Luka Legend’ and ‘The Dragon’ will join forces yet again to lead Slovenia’s title defense.

After their magical run in the 2017 EuroBasket, Dragic retired from the national team. He took home the silverware for his country as well as the MVP honors, capping off his national career on a high note.
