‘I Was Thinking of the Worst’: Clippers’ Paul George Opens Up on Kawhi Leonard’s Horrid Injury

When Kawhi Leonard joined the LA Clippers last season, fans expected him to bring an NBA title to the organization. However, the Clippers had a disastrous playoff run, getting knocked out in the second round. But they haven’t lost hope and are looking for redemption this year, kicking off their season in great fashion.
The Clippers comfortably defeated their opponents in the first two games. But their recent matchup with the Nuggets could have cost them Kawhi Leonard. During the game, Clippers forward, Serge Ibaka, hit Kawhi on the face with his elbow while battling for a rebound.
This was the best shot as to how hard Serge Ibaka hit Kawhi Leonard in the face.

It was a serious blow to Kawhi as he started bleeding right after that collision. Fortunately, the 2-time NBA champion won’t be sidelined for a prolonged period.

Although Kawhi’s jaw wasn’t broken, at that time, the injury looked pretty serious. In the post-match conference, his teammate Paul George revealed his thoughts at that very moment.
“Really worried. I was thinking of the worst. I didn’t know if he was concussed or how hard of a hit or what actually happened because I didn’t see it, I just saw him laying on the ground. That was first and foremost, just making sure he was okay.”

Leonard got 8 stitches to treat his mouth laceration. As of now, there is no definite date of return set for Kawhi, but he shouldn’t miss much time.

What’s next for the Kawhi Leonard-less Clippers?
Currently, the Clippers need to build on their blazing start to the season. They have won back-to-back games with a complete team effort, but now is not the time to slack off. They would need to continue this phenomenal form of theirs while Leonard is recovering.
