Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers took on the New York Knicks at the Staples Center on Saturday. The Lakers were down as much as 21 at the half but they came back and took a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter. However, they couldn’t hold on to that as the Knicks tied it up, and the game went to overtime. Luckily, for the Lakers, they were able to secure the victory and split the season series with the Knicks.

Anthony Davis and Malik Monk were the architects of the comeback as the Lakers stormed back in the third quarter. They held the Knicks to just 13 points in the third. Davis was all over the place as he kept sending shots back and he was dominating the paint. He had several put-back dunks, and he was looking like the AD of old.

The Lakers looked out of sorts in the first half as they were letting RJ Barrett and Julius Randle get whatever they wanted. There was no sense of urgency or defensive pressure, which allowed the Knicks to go up by 21 at one point. After half time, it was a completely different story. They were locked in defensively and they held the Knicks to just 26.9 percent shooting.

Monk took over in the third and Anthony Davis continued his dominance in the paint. The Lakers had a nine-point lead with a few minutes left on the clock, but their poor game management was again on display as they let the Knicks come back to tie it up. LeBron had a chance to win the game in regulation, but his three-pointer was off.

In overtime though, the Lakers were more composed and relaxed. They held on to their lead this time around and secured their 26th victory of the season. The second half was one of the best performances for the Lakers and they will hope to continue the same in the next games. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were both exceptional and if the duo keeps this up, the Lakers will be hard to beat.
