The four-time NBA champion LeBron James always had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Even before getting drafted into the NBA, James was already a household name. And he hasn’t looked back since he was selected No.1 by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003. Recently, an old video of James circulated on the internet that unveiled him choosing the best player in the league at that time. The 19x All-Star chose a Boston Celtics legend with whom he crossed swords on multiple occasions. However, it appears that the four-time MVP’s answer delighted the Celtics legend as he reflected on the affair on social media.

The four-time champion entered the league in 2003 and at that time, legends like Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and Tim Duncan were at their best. However, the interesting thing is that The Chosen One didn’t even pick anyone from the list above and chose the Celtics legend, who didn’t have any championships at that time.

An old clip shared by a Twitter user unveiled James giving his take on the best player in the league at that time. In the clip, the interviewer asked him who was the best player in the NBA. The four-time Finals MVP immediately responded by saying, “KG, The Big Ticket – unanimous MVP.” Subsequently added, “If he don’t get it this year, I’m leaving.” In addition to that, the four-time MVP joked and said, “Ain’t no second season for me if he doesn’t get it this year.

Kevin Garnett re-shared the clip on his Twitter handle with a caption that read, “Say word? (hundred emoji) @KingJames.”

Judging from Garnett’s comment, it appears that James’ remarks delighted him. Interestingly, KG won the MVP award in 2004 and the 19x All-Star thankfully didn’t have to leave the league or fans would have never been able to witness his dominance. While James was a big fan of KG during his early days in the league, the Big Ticket didn’t share the same sentiment for The King.

As soon as James entered the league, he started showcasing his flair, and his opponents acknowledged how lethal he was on the floor. However, according to KG, he and the Celtics didn’t fear facing him on the hardwood. The 2004 MVP once made an appearance on The Bill Simmons podcast and said, “Man, listen. Let me tell you something. The C’s, we didn’t give a f**k about LeBron. We didn’t fear LeBron. And we didn’t think he could beat all five of us, and that’s how it felt.”

Garnett faced him multiple times, not only in the regular season but also in the playoffs. KG and the Celtics initially won against him in the 2008 and 2010 playoffs. But James took his revenge in the 2011 and 2012 playoffs after joining the Miami Heat. Despite their past differences, since his retirement, Garnett has praised LeBron on many occasions.
