The NBA and the NFL drafts the best college talent around the country every year. There is a huge competition among young players and some others who are considered veterans in the same space. It’s not only about acquiring the best players but also from a business standpoint, where to land those players.

Colin had compared the NFL draft to slavery in his Netflix documentary. Though Gilbert hadn’t watched the doc, his thoughts were different.

For Arenas, getting the chance to play at the next level on a professional stage is enough. Gilbert threw shade on the benefits of being drafted by an NBA team, earning about 7 figures a year.

“Look, as a hooper man, we’re just happy to be selected. You know what I mean, I don’t like… you call our names and we get to go play to the next level of our profession. If that’s called slavery, we’re all signing up for it,” said Arenas.

The aftermath of the NBA draft is a luxury compared to the NFL

Though it might not be the same for the NFL draft. The salary of an average NFL player is in 6 figures. Whereas even a bench player in the NBA would earn a good 7 figure income. Arenas doesn’t watch football, but to him the draft process is dumb.

“I think their draft from what I see is horrible. Just period just the concept of how they value their talent just seems dumb to me,” said Gilbert. The NBA draft in comparison to the NFL is more basic and takes the certain talent’s longevity into consideration. The competition is immense, and the professional leagues would do anything to make sure that only the best talent is recruited in the end.
