Numerous questions have been raised about Damian Lillard over the past few weeks. In the ongoing 2021-22 season, the 31-year-old has looked a shadow of his former self. His numbers haven’t been as good, and various reports have emerged regarding a potential exit. Nonetheless, Lillard is still adamant that he is loyal to the Portland Trail Blazers, stating that it is just a temporary lapse in form. Meanwhile, he recently took off on the media over their repeated interrogation.

Despite their recent struggles, Damian Lillard has insisted that the Trail Blazers are in a good state of mind. The side currently sits in the 11th position, well behind their expectations. Although ‘Dame’ hasn’t had the best of campaigns thus far, he is slowly but surely finding his feet. Even though he is averaging only around 22 points this year, his 43 point outing against the Hornets will restore faith. For years now, the #0 has been Portland’s go-to man in the clutch moments. As a result, it is sad to see the doubts raised over his game.

Damian Lillard irritated at NBA media for lack of respect

Owing to his dip in form, the media has been questioning Lillard’s quality time and again. In addition, there have been tons of rumors that he is intent on leaving the franchise, which wouldn’t have pleased him either. Characteristically, his 40+ point showing was the perfect answer to all his critics. Beating a higher ranked Charlotte squad, the Blazers gathered some much needed momentum. Speaking to the press after the game, Damian addressed how critical the papers have been off late.

After delivering his season-high score, the 6-time All-star guard said, “I’ve done so much in my career, specifically in Portland. I’ve given everything. I’ve never made an excuse, I’ve never disrespected any of y’all, I’ve never not given you guys time. Just when our team is going through it, I’m in a bit of a struggle you know, I see people not giving me that same respect. So that’s why I’m a little irritated in here, but with my team I’m happy with what we did.”
