Did Giannis Antetokounmpo lose in a game of Horse?

The story behind the game is that Hasan Minhaj and Giannis Antetokounmpo got together to shoot a commercial for WhatsApp. However, Minhaj and Antetokounmpo sure had their fair share of fun behind the scenes.

Hasan started by giving fans another one of his gems, “I’m gonna hit a shot he can’t hit. It’s called a free throw in the fourth quarter.” He soon arrived at the Milwaukee Bucks practice facility to shoot the commercial for the All-Star weekend.

Getting ready for his face-off, Minhaj stared into the camera and said, “Giannis is at practice right now. He’s going to show up and me and him are going to play Horse. Now, everybody here thinks that Giannis is going to beat me at Horse.”

“I don’t care that he’s a two-time league MVP. I don’t care that he’s seven feet tall, I don’t care that he’s an NBA champion. Yes, he has a lot on me physically,” Minhaj admitted, before revealing his strategy as a comedian getting ready to battle Giannis Antetokounmpo, “But I’m gonna beat him up here. I’m gonna defeat him mentally and emotionally.”

Hasan Minhaj and the Greek Freak have fun

The two players decided that the game wouldn’t be HORSE but ADETOKUNBO – Giannis’ original surname in Nigerian. Apart from giving more time to Minhaj (albeit only for his certain defeat), it was also an ode to immigrants such as Giannis and Hasan who share different cultures.

The commercial shoot’s rules also didn’t allow Giannis Antetokounmpo to dunk the ball. However, by the end of the video, after having lost terribly to the Greek Freak, Minhaj himself was left hanging by the rim as Giannis walked away, refusing to help Minhaj down! Giannis had obeyed the rule in all but his last shot – when Minhaj was on his last ‘O’ and would lose for sure – and Minhaj had attempted a dunk himself after asking Giannis to help lift him up.
