With six seconds left in the game, the Utah Jazz‘s Lauri Markkanen stood tall at the free throw line. The air of anticipation and nervousness consumed the arena while Markkanen bagged a point to equal the score. Following this, the Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro was in possession of the ball. Herro lacked the luxury of time, so he rushed past two Jazz defenders and jumped high up from behind the arc, and shot for a three-point basket.

Herro’s heroics were successful as the Heat claimed a stunning three-point victory over the Jazz. As the NBA community wrapped their heads around the buzzer-beater shot to win the game, conversations involving LeBron James and Tyler Herro ensued online.

Tyler Herro was truly in sublime form for the Miami Heat. Apart from the game-winning shot, he bagged 29 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists on the night. Other contributions for the Heat came in from Bam Adebayo’s 32 points, Victor Oladipo’s 23, and Max Strus’ 13 points. On the other hand, Lauri Markkanen’s 29 and Jordan Clarkson’s 22-point game helped the Utah Jazz put up a fight. However, their performance was in vain as Herro came in clutch for the Heat.

The report stated that an idea of trading Tyler Herro for LeBron was being floated around. With this in mind, the NBA world reacted to Herro’s game-winning play on the final day of 2022.

During a post-game interview, Herro spoke about the final shot of the night (and year). His focus was to “create a shot” either for himself or anyone on the team. Herro simply backed himself up. He said, “Time was running out, I was just able to get it up. I saw some space and I was able to get it up”.

In the third quarter of the game, the Utah Jazz, courtesy of Markkanen and Clarkson, had an 11-0 run which helped them to gain a big lead. From then on, throughout the game, the momentum shifted like a pendulum between the two teams. While talking about this, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra highlighted a key factor that helped his team. He said, “Our guys stayed connected, stayed the course knowing that it is tough to win on the road and overcome a lot of different things”.
