What Inspired LeBron James to create a Muhammad Ali Documentary?

LeBron and Muhammad Ali both share the title of legends in their respective sports. Ali dominated the boxing ring and simultaneously the boxing world, starting as a small-time boxer in Kentucky. LeBron’s company producing a documentary about Ali is poetic considering their immense contributions to the sporting world as athletes.

LeBron said this of Ali in a statement, “It’s tough to put into words how much it means to me to be a part of this project honoring the legacy and telling the extremely important story of the great Muhammad Ali. He transcended sports and used his platform to empower people, which paved the way for all athletes and people of every race and gender that came after him, myself included.

The documentary produced by LeBron titled ‘What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali’ was released in 2019.
