On December 26, 2002, Shaq got married to his now ex-wife Shaunie. Although the couple is currently divorced, they have a friendly and healthy relationship. They support each other through thick and thin, just like a family.

Shaq and his ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal were married on December 26, 2002, at the Beverly Hills Hotel. According to reports published by ESPN, the couple exchanged vows in front of their family and friends, as well as their teammates. Despite taking precautions to ensure it wouldn’t make headlines, a television news helicopter captured a few images from the event. One image showed the couple taking their vows.
The couple’s family members then commented on the wedding, saying:
“The wedding was absolutely beautiful,” Michael Parris, O’Neal’s uncle, told The Daily News of Los Angeles. “It was a very traditional wedding. It was a very intimate gathering.”
Other than the family members, Shaq’s teammates also expressed their appreciation for the event: ‘‘This is a great event for Shaq, I’m really happy for him and his wife and it was a lovely event, so I’m glad I got to attend,” Kareem Rush told KCAL-TV.
”It was fabulous. It was true to Shaquille’s class and grace,” said Cheryl Cleamons, wife of former professional basketball player and current coach Jim Cleamons.
Currently, the couple is in a great relationship. They have four children together: Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir, and Me’arah. Their divorce was finalized in 2011. For now, they are friends and are trying to build a healthy relationship for them as well as for their children.
