Coming off a blockbuster trade today, Kyrie Irving is set to join forces with Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic in Dallas. Irving and Markieff Morris were sent to the Dallas Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney Smith, and some draft picks. Dinwiddie has returned to his former team and was welcomed back with lots of love by the Brooklyn Nets fans. However, a few seemed to troll the guard for his recent tweet.

NBA Insider Shams Charania informed Twitter users by sharing the breaking news of the surprising trade. Dinwiddie’s reply to Charania’s tweet has caught the attention of NBA buffs.

Dinwiddie took to Twitter, replying to Charania’s tweet by saying, “When Shams Charania says it’s time to go, you pack your bag. Plus Elijah said he wanted to go back home”. The son of the 6’5″ guard Elijah Dinwiddie seems happy to be headed back home. It seems Dinwiddie got to know he was traded through Charania and not through the Dallas Mavericks organization.

Fans’ reactions to Dinwiddie’s tweet are going viral on Twitter.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

Dinwiddie is averaging 17.7 points and 5.3 assists so far this season. The $12 million guard has great offensive talent and dropped a season-high 36 points against the Phoenix Suns without Luka Doncic. In 2021, Dinwiddie was traded to the Washington Wizards in a five-team deal.

Later in February 2022, he was traded to Dallas Mavericks for Kristaps Porzingis. Now the veteran guard returns to his former team to join up with Kevin Durant

A look into the Brooklyn Nets’ future

With their recent addition, the Nets might struggle for a while, as Irving was the only one leading the team in absence of Durant. Dinwiddie will likely resume as a starter, along with the huge responsibility of leading the team with Ben Simmons, at least while KD stays sidelined due to injury.

Although they still stand as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 32-20, KD arguably has to take things into his own hands when he returns from injury.
