Michael Beasley was drafted second overall in the 2008 NBA draft. He was one of the best college basketball players of his time. However, he never seemed to fulfill his potential as he bounced around many teams, the last one being the Los Angeles Lakers. He has also had multiple stints overseas, in China and Brazil.

With many veterans getting another shot now, Beasley seemed to be prepared if the door came knocking. He has posted several videos of his workouts with John Wall, Tyreke Evans, and other NBA players. Beasley is determined to come back to the league, and he feels like he can help any team.

He is also one of the misunderstood players of the league. Even though he has had few brain fade moments, Beasley believes he has been done wrong by the media and fans. One such time was when he forgot to his shorts in the locker room. Beasley was about to check in when he realized he had the wrong shorts on. He headed back to the locker room to put on the correct ones. Beasley became the laughingstock as he was humiliated by fans and the media. But little did we know Beasley was suffering from personal trauma.

When asked about the incident, he said, ” Off the court, my mom died when I was playing for the Lakers. I fought through that, and I came back. My cousin died the game I forgot my shorts in Oklahoma. I was battling that day, trying to fight through it.”

“My whole career, I’ve never been given a chance to show who I really am, how I can really play, show that I can really win and be somebody. The whole world laughed at me. It hurt my feelings. I’m not going to lie.”

Michael Beasley and his Journey so far

Beasley was drafted by the Miami Heat in the 2008 draft. He had a couple of good seasons before he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves to make space for the Big 3. Beasley reached his peak with the Wolves, averaging 19.2 points in his first season.  However, he reached his peak again as he bounced around the league for a couple of years. He then left overseas to China to join the Shanghai Sharks.
