The Minnesota Timberwolves has its version of the Twin Towers now. Rudy Gobert officially became a part of Minnesota’s roster. Fans of the franchise are salivating over the duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. Both are giants of the game with Towns standing at almost 7 ft tall and Gobert standing at 7’1.

The physical threat they possess can take the Timberwolves to the next level. Minnesota may have had to sacrifice Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro and four first-round picks, but it’s arguably worth it if Gobert takes them to the next step.

Minnesota thinks that a modern Twin Tower combination might just unlock something for them. Acquiring a three-time Defensive Player of the Year would surely shore up Minnesota’s defense. The franchise would not like a repeat of this year’s first-round playoff results. Gobert will likely help with that immensely. He led the league in blocks in 2017 and rebounding this year. He has been part of the All-Defensive First Team six successive times from 2017-2022.

The move has been praised by experts and fans. It came at a steep price but the sight of Towns and Gobert hopping on the court will be something. The Western Conference has probably just got spicier with this pick.

These are some of the reactions on NBA Twitter:

Minnesota Timberwolves has a Big 4

Last year, Rudy Gobert averaged around 15.6 points at 71.3% Field Goal Percentage. He rebounded almost 15 times per game. He might not be a facilator or a good one on one shooter but he will be a great presence on the paint for the Timberwolves.

Karl-Anthony Towns, on the other hand, had a great year as well. He scored 24.6 points at 53% from the field and 41% from beyond the three point line. Towns had almost 10 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game also. He got inducted into the All-NBA Third Team this year, as well.

Minnesota also have Anthony Edwards. He had a break through season this year. He scored 21.3 points per game with 44.1% field goal efficiency and was the Timberwolves’ best player against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round as he scored 25 points per game at 45/40/82 shooting splits.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have players like D’Angelo Russell, who can contribute in the general play on the court. He averaged 7.1 assists per game last season which is thhe highest in his career.
