Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had a shot at sealing their first Finals trip on Friday. But they were outclassed by the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler who had a monster game. They performed very poorly in the second half and they will need to be at their best in game 7. They were given a brutal reality check by analyst Stephen A. Smith.

The Celtics had a golden opportunity to advance to the Finals but they were upset by the Heat. They were playing in front of their home crowd but the Heat put on a masterclass in the second half. Their stars Brown and Tatum combined for only 14 points in the second half and they only took 2 shots in the fourth. But even without their contribution, the Celtics were well in the game. They even took the lead in the fourth after being down by 13. But they needed their star wings to step up when it mattered the most and they just couldn’t do it.

Stephen A.Smith gives Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown a warning ahead of game 7

Smith was asked what the Celtics need to do to seal game 7. He says,” How about not replicating the effort in game 6? How about Jaylen Brown scoring more than 2 points in the entire second half? How about Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown not combing for 1 shot in the first 11 minutes of the fourth quarter? That would help, that would help immensely.”

“Though these are the two stars of the Boston Celtics, now that Jimmy Butler has reminded you, there is a star on the Miami Heat coming for you?  It’s incumbent on stars to step up and answer the call. We know everything that they have to do defensively.”

“Game 7 come down to the stars. ANd the stars of the Boston Celtics have to show up. Otherwise, We’re Going To Remember Them Not So Fondly for Years To Come”

Game 7 is where stars are made. With all the hype surrounding Brown and Tatum for years, they need to show up. It won’t matter if they lose, but if they give a bad performance, this is going to look bad for them. This is very much a legacy game for these two young wings who have the potential to take over the league one day.
