Pelicans’ JJ Reddick Reveals How He Urged Lonzo Ball to Shoot More Threes

Lonzo Ball was one of the top prospects when he entered the NBA. He went second-overall in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was tipped by then-General Manager and Lakers legend Magic Johnson as a Lakers Superstar. However, he was traded just two years later to New Orleans to bring Anthony Davis to the Lakers.
Ball was paired up with new NBA superstar Zion Williamson in New Orleans. The two formed a solid connection and made several alley-oops together. However, more was expected from Lonzo Ball. He is a solid young point guard who has a lot of time to develop into a superstar if he does things right.
JJ Redick: “I literally tell [Lonzo] every f—king day to shoot the ball. I hate when he passes up good shots. … He’s turned himself into a great shooter.”

Pelicans’ veteran JJ Reddick spoke to the press recently and admitted that he has been convincing Lonzo Ball to shoot more three-point shots. “I literally tell [Lonzo] every f—king day to shoot the ball. I hate when he passes up good shots. … He’s turned himself into a great shooter.”

Lonzo Ball has improved his three-point shot
If Reddick is to be believed, Ball’s shooting prowess will be a factor to watch this new NBA season. One of the major causes for concerns with Lonzo was his ability to shoot the ball, especially three-point shots. But if Ball has developed a proper three-point shot, then the NBA should be on the look-out for him.
Ball will be a focal point this season. His brother, LaMelo Ball, enters the league this season as a member of the Charlotte Hornets. But Lonzo will want to show, in friendly competition at least, that he is a better point guard than his brother. Additionally, Lonzo is yet to prove that he warranted the number two overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

Lonzo is part of a young core for the New Orleans Pelicans that includes Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. If the three of them can play well together and fulfill their potential, the Pelicans will be a real problem in the Western Conference. It remains to be seen how Lonzo will play this season, and how much he has developed his shot.
