In a blowout loss, the Toronto Raptors lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 131-111. Tyrese Maxey scored a game-high 38 points in which the 76ers outplayed the Raptors for most of the game. But there is one passage of the game that Raptor fans are taking offense to. Scottie Barnes, the fourth overall pick, had to leave the game because of an ankle injury and the raptor fans are blaming it all on Joel Embiid.

During the game, while trying to fight for the ball, Joel Embiid appeared to step on Scottie’s ankle. As a result, Scottie immediately went down and then couldn’t return to the game. He has been ruled out from the second game of the series too. Raptors fans who have some recent history with the 76ers didn’t react kindly to this information and blamed it on Embiid. Scottie – The rookie phenom

Scottie was the fourth overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 2021 NBA Draft. He was also announced as one of the finalist for the Rookie of the Year award. He along with Cavaliers center Evan Mobley are two favourites to win the award. Scottie averaged 15.3 Points-per game along with 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He has also been an important part of the defensive scheme which the Raptors employed in the regular season. Which employed using Scottie as a defensive havoc along with Pascal Siakam.

Embiid and Raptor’s history

Joel Embiid and Raptors have some recent history together. During the 2018-19 NBA Playoffs, the 76ers and the Raptors met in a conference semi-final series. It was a closely contested series seven-game series. Which was eventually decided by Kawhi Leonard‘s most outrageous buzzer beater in NBA history. The Raptors won the title, and the 76ers were the closest competition for them throughout their playoff run.

But apart from the buzzer beater, the game is also famous for Joel showing his emotions by crying in the stadium tunnel and since then he and Raptors fans have never seen eye-to-eye. And the Raptors will pray for Scottie’s return from the injury to be as soon as possible.
