A Russian court recently gave its verdict on the grim situation surrounding WNBA star Brittney Griner. The Phoenix Mercury player was detained earlier this year in Russia after officials found her guilty of possessing illegal substances.

Moreover, a few days ago Griner herself pleaded guilty. The court recently sentenced Griner to prison for 9 years. Needless to say, celebrities around the world gave their opinions regarding her situation.

While some demanded Griner do her time in Russia, some urged the Government to help her out. Interestingly, eminent music star Justin Bieber made a bold proposition for Griner.

Bieber took to Instagram to give his thoughts regarding her situation. Justin wrote, “THIS HURTS. If anyone knows of anyway I can help please let me know.”

The 2 time Grammy winner made his thoughts regarding Griner’s situation known in front of a whopping 253 million followers on Instagram.

How long can Brittney Griner face prison time?

Griner has been in detention in Russia for well over 100 days. Moreover, her time in prison can increase as a Russian court came to a decision on her long-running legal case.

According to multiple reports, Brittney Griner has been sentenced to prison for 9 and 1/2 years. This comes after the court found her guilty of drug charges for which she was arrested earlier this year.
