“Karate Master Is So Crazy…”: Lakers Legend Shaquille O’Neal Has an Honest Admission on Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal won almost everything over the course of his long and illustrious career. After retiring, O’Neal is always seen around the game of basketball whenever possible. But he recently revealed he does not miss playing the game. He is undoubtedly one of the funniest characters around the league today and is a huge entertainer who appears for a variety of podcasts and shows sharing his thoughts on things NBA and beyond. Recently, Shaq was in attendance for the latest episode of the ‘Drink Champs’ podcast on Revolt. During the sit-down, O’Neal talked about many interesting things.

In one such instance, the host asked Shaq what part of playing basketball he misses the most. The four-time champion seemingly shocked everyone when he disclosed he does not miss playing basketball. He added watching too many karate movies as a young boy was the reason behind it. Hearing this the crew was left even more confused.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend is a huge movie buff who loved watching martial arts movies as a young kid growing up. So he often uses analogies from the movies to explain a particular situation.

Shaquille O’Neal does not miss playing basketball

Shaquille O’Neal then explained the reason behind not missing basketball. “Remember growing up, when you first watch karate movies, the karate master is so crazy nobody can get to him. That’s how it was for me. I used to love [Patrick] Ewing, and now I get to face him. I used to love [Michael] Jordan, now I used to get to face him, I gotta try to beat him, I gotta try to beat [Charles] Barkley. So for me, it was about beating these legends. I don’t see nobody that’s gonna make me go crazy,” O’Neal said.

When Shaq came into the league, he immediately started dominating his opponents as well. He turned around the fortunes of the Orlando Magic which was a new expansion team at the time. He brought instant success and fame to the organization. The fans loved his antics both on and off the floor.

The former MVP is one of the very few players that can claim they have beaten Jordan in the playoffs. However, it was during MJ’s comeback season after his first retirement. Nevertheless, very few predicted someone as young as Shaq could lead a team to a playoff win against the seasoned Chicago Bulls. But they were no match against Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets who swept the Magic in the Finals.

Shaq later found success with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning three straight titles.
