Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Accuses Billionaire Elon Musk of Being “Disingenuous” as Elton John Joins Jim Carrey, Gigi Hadid and Many More in Noble Protest

NBA All-Time great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has once again criticized billionaire Elon Musk. The Los Angeles Lakers legend uses his platform to talk about issues around the world. The 6-time champion does not shy away from calling anyone out and that also applies to the CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk. A few weeks back, Abdul-Jabbar criticized Musk for some policy changes that were made on Twitter. Now, he has accused Musk of being “disingenuous” in one of his recent articles.
Singer Elton John joined a long list of celebrities who have quit Twitter recently. He explained the reason behind leaving Twitter with a tweet. John stated that he is leaving because of Twitter’s change of policy which would allow “misinformation to flourish.” Something Abdul-Jabbar related to and criticized a few weeks back.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar called out Elon Musk
Elon Musk replied soon replied to Elton John’s tweet. Musk noted he loves John’s music and asked him if there was any misinformation in particular that concerned him. The reply from Musk, however, shocked Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Abdul-Jabbar wrote, “The shocking thing about Musk’s reply is that he doesn’t already know the answer. That suggests he’s either being disingenuous or that he is so removed from the debate as to be an ineffective spokesperson.”

The six-time NBA champion noted that the answer is in John’s tweet. He added all misinformation “encourages hate and violence.” Abdul-Jabbar also added that the singer has joined the likes of stars like Jim Carrey and Gigi Hadid, who recently quit Twitter. Some of these stars have left in a noble protest against misinformation.

After Musk took over Twitter, there have been a lot of changes in and around the platform. A few weeks back Twitter reportedly ended its ban on Covid misinformation. This meant the platform would no longer enforce its policy against Coronavirus misinformation. Abdul-Jabbar did not take this lightly and hit out at Musk.
Gigi Hadid quit Twitter
After Elon Musk took over Twitter, more than 3000 employees were reportedly laid off. This prompted many celebrities to leave the social media platform including Gigi Hadid. As per reports, Twitter’s human resources team was also laid off according to the Twitter Human Rights Counsel.

Hadid posted a screenshot of the Council’s tweet on Instagram and revealed that she had deactivated her Twitter account. She noted the platform has become a “cesspool of hate and bigotry”, especially after the new leadership.
