NBA All-Time Great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is known for his hard-hitting comments when it comes to social and cultural issues. Be it politics, movies, or even comedy, the Los Angeles Lakers legend will give his honest take. This was exactly the case when he recently talked about the former President of the U.S. Donald Trump. It is no secret that Abdul-Jabbar is not a fan of Trump. The six-time NBA champion has criticized Trump many times over the course of his presidency and after his term, as well.
While embarking on another campaign for the presidency, Trump delivered a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference recently. However, his claims and statements were reportedly not accurate for the most part.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on Donald Trump’s claims
After Donald Trump delivered his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, CNN stated that at least 23 claims from the former POTUS were factually wrong. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar used the report from CNN as a reference. While the original report listed 23 pieces, the six-time NBA MVP touched on only two because of space limitations. The first claim was Trump’s statement about murders in Manhattan. Trump noted that killings are taking place at a much higher rate. However, according to the report, Trump’s claims were not true. The report stated that the killings are nowhere close to the highest numbers that were previously recorded.
The second one was Trump claiming that the Barack Obama administration did not help Ukraine with weapons and only provided “bed sheets”. The CNN report noted that even though the Obama administration declined to provide weapons, more than $600 million in security assistance was provided to Ukraine. Talking about it Abdul-Jabbar wrote on his website, “I included only two of the lies because of space limitations. But reading them is like watching a police interrogation of a pathological liar. “

He wondered how Trump could lie despite knowing anyone can fact check his statements from their phones. He then criticized his followers for blindly following him and had a warning as well.

Abdul-Jabbar’s warning for Americans
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar stated that Donald Trump knows that he can tell anything to his followers. He then had a major warning for every American while talking about his false claims. He stated, “But if they embrace as a leader a man who constantly lies to them (remember the good old days when he deliberately didn’t tell Americans how bad COVID-19 was and let us die?), then maybe their problems start with their own way of thinking.”
This might not sit well with all the Trump supporters. According to various reports, Trump is leading the race as the Republican presidential nominee for 2024.
