After the entire drama last season, Kyrie Irving is back in the sport of basketball. Notably, he returned to the Brooklyn Nets as a full-time player towards the end of the regular season with the mandate being lifted. However, his return did not go as expected. The Boston Celtics came in to spoil the party as Irving’s former team swept him in the first round. After the series, KAI clarified that he intends to stay with his teammate, Kevin Durant. However, with his history, there are odds for him to join a new team. And NBA Twitter went crazy as a potential team up with Kawhi Leonard or former teammate LeBron James could be possible.

Kyrie Irving is a superstar in the NBA. His crafty skills and insane ball handling keeps fans glued to the game. Often in the highlights, Irving provides a tremendous boost for any team. However, since his run with LeBron James and the Cavaliers, Irving hasn’t even been in a conference final. Even being on a super-team with the Nets did not see him get close to a trip back to the playoffs. Hence, there is a slight chance KAI looks for a shift in the scene.

Kyrie Irving could choose Kawhi Leonard over LeBron James?

While Irving made his intentions to remain loyal, clear, the pattern that follows doesn’t back the star up. Notably, while on the Celtics, he made a promise in front of the entire packed crowd to re-sign with the team. However, Celtics fans were left in utter disbelief as Irving joined Brooklyn. And now Irving has made that same promise to KD yet again. While it is unlikely for KAI to leave Durant’s side, a new team is never out of the equation. And the LA Clippers could hit the jackpot.

NBA Twitter went crazy as the Los Angeles Clippers emerged as favorites to sign Kyrie Irving. Along with them, the Rockets, Pelicans, and Lakers also came in as potential destinations for the Nets star.

While it is surely tough to happen, a Kawhi Leonard-Kyrie dynamic would be one of the baddest duos in the NBA. In addition, no team would want to face this duo as they would perfectly balance out each other. The Clippers already proved they are a deep team without their two major stars. However, if they make the impossible happen and rope in Kyrie, their power levels would rise immensely. Even with limited basketball. Irving could make his defenders stumble and leave them confused. He averaged 27 points in the 29 games he played in the regular season. With the defensive prowess of Paul George and Kawhi, the Clippers would become a dominating team in the league. In addition, a reunion with LeBron James is also a possibility as the Lakers are among the favorites to sign the 7-time All-Star.
