In September 2019, a handful of NBA executives joined hands to create a premium line of Tequilas named Cincoro Tequila. Almost 1.5 years since then, the brand and two of its owners are again making headlines for some non-business reasons. It is the Lakers’ President Jeanie Buss and the Hornets owner Michael Jordan.
Recently, the six-time grand slam champion MJ turned 58-YO and received wishes from all around the world. Among all the wishes, the one that stood apart came from Jeanie Buss, who raised many eyebrows with her style.

Lakers’ President and her cryptic message for Michael Jordan
The 59-YO high-achieving NBA executive wrote a question on her Twitter post and left everything else to the imagination.
Happy Birthday to my co-founder of Cincoro Tequila, Michael Jordan!! How do you keep getting hotter?? 🔥 @Cincoro pic.twitter.com/TvADerXgJP

This post immediately led to brewing rumors about the phenomenal leader making a move on Air Jordan. However, one must logically read them as mere reactions to a very sweet post from an MJ fan who has watched him age like wine.
Interestingly, Jeanie and MJ share many commonalities, the most common being legendary coach Phil Jackson. After the Jordan era ended in 1998, Phil Jackson left the Bulls and joined the Lakers in 1999 to help Kobe Bryant’s side win five NBA titles.
During this time, he built a close relationship with Jeanie, who got promoted to VP of Business Ops of Lakers in 1999. They later separated after dating for over a decade but stayed on good terms. It was after this, that MJ and Jeanie joined hands in business terms.

In September 2019, the governors from Bucks, Celtics, Hornets, and Lakers created Cincoro Tequila after tasting thousands of flavors and then deciding the blend. MJ worked on its branding and developed a great business relation with Jeanie.
Later, in 2020, during the worldwide lockdown, MJ’s The Last Dance released, and that took the Lakers’ VP back to nostalgia. She shared her excitement to watch MJ in a video and quoted, “I couldn’t stand your name in the 90s. You were dominating everything. Over the last few years, I’ve really grown to admire you. We have built a friendship of mutual love and respect.”
