Former Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins, who played in the 2019 NBA Finals with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, addressed rumors of him joining the Los Angeles Lakers in a recent interview. In fact, the former All-Star opened up about some reports speculating a potential move to LA amidst Kevin Durant’s trade rumors.

Kevin Durant set the NBA world ablaze after requesting a trade out of Brooklyn. Since then, a deluge of trade rumors has dominated the NBA media. All kinds of potential moves from different teams involving available free agents are making headlines.

Incidentally, certain reports hinted at DeMarcus Cousins potentially joining the Los Angeles Lakers. However, Cousins confirmed in a recent interview that such claims have no foundation. In addition, he also talked about his next move in the offseason as a free agent.

The offseason trading market is currently simmering in anticipation of one of the most important trades in recent NBA history. In other words, superstars like Kevin Durant aren’t available in the market every offseason. Any potential signing involving him might upend the hierarchy of the league at any given time.

Therefore, a lot of teams are desperate to land the 33-year-old former MVP. On the other hand, other teams are busy moving pieces around to create the best roster possible in this situation of turmoil.

Meanwhile, DeMarcus Cousins rejected all claims linking him to the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, the 31-year-old center could find no basis for concocting such outlandish claims.

Additionally, he also opened up about his free agency status. In fact, he revealed that he hasn’t received any offers from teams yet. But he is willing to play for any team in the NBA and help complement their roster.

I’m in search of a job,” said Cousins. “I want any opportunity that is presented to me.

I’m open to going anywhere. I just wanna play basketball at the end of the day,” he added.

DeMarcus Cousins played for the Dubs in the 2019 NBA Finals. In fact, he made a return in Game 1 of the Finals after a long hiatus.

However, Cousins lost out on a ring after the Toronto Raptors defeated the Warriors in six games. Cousins, who had ruptured his Achilles a while ago, saw Kevin Durant go down with the same injury in Game 5.
