The 2016-17 Golden State Warriors was one of the best teams ever assembled. The formidable Warriors thrashed their opponents night after night owing to their high-octane offense blended with staunch defense. They dominated the league owing to Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, as well as Draymond Green’s swiss army knife approach and Klay Thompson’s lethal three-point shooting. 

The Warriors finished the regular season with a 67-15 record. However, the team caused a stir in the postseason, going 16-1 to break Kobe-LA Shaq’s Lakers’ record of 15-1 in 2001. They made their way into the NBA Finals by sweeping the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. The following stat speaks volumes about the Dubs’ supremacy and is likely to make Warriors supporters cry.

Durant and Curry combined for 65 points in Game 4, making the Warriors the first team in NBA history to win their first 12 postseason games. However, the Warriors couldn’t maintain a perfect playoff record. They swept every team until Game 3 of the 2017 NBA Finals. They did, however, capture the NBA Championship, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-1.

They were, however, defeated by the Cavaliers in NBA Finals. The Warriors blew a 3-1 lead and their collapse squandered their desire to clinch a dream season.

What happened next, however, can simply be described as “carnage.” The 2016 offseason saw Golden State bringing Kevin Durant over to join forces. The human sniper welcomed a striking change in scenery, transitioning from donning the blue of Oklahoma City Thunder to the Golden State Warriors’ hues.

The Warriors finished the regular season as the number one seed in the Western Conference. Three squad members averaged more than 22 points per game. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant all averaged 25.3, 22.3, and 25.1 points per game, respectively. Draymond Green‘s all-around performance, averaging 10.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.0 assists, complemented these three players flawlessly.

This Warriors squad bulldozed past opponents with their flawless and consistent shooting throughout the season.

The Warriors easily marched to the NBA Finals and defeated the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in 5 games. Kevin Durant took home the Finals MVP.

Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors will always be considered one of the most formidable squads in NBA history. Many pundits and supporters believe this team is capable of defeating any team in NBA history.
