The Golden State Warriors are not too keen to trade their youth core for Kevin Durant, recent reports suggest. The Warriors signed KD in 2016 after their 73-9 team perished in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, Kevin Durant left Golden State in the summer of 2019 to team up with Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics in the 2022 Finals to reclaim their place on the NBA throne. The Dubs bagged their fourth championship in eight years to cement their legacy as a legitimate basketball dynasty. Stephen Curry registered a historic performance in the Finals to secure his first-ever Finals MVP.

However, the Warriors won the competition by focusing on developing their young players. On the other hand, teams that concentrated solely on signing big-name stars, like the Lakers, perished in the long run. Therefore, it is quite understandable that the Warriors are hesitant to sign Kevin Durant in exchange for their entire youth division.

After the Warriors sealed this year’s championship, discussions about Kevin Durant’s legacy dominated the media. The prevalent narrative in the NBA community for a long time was that KD had to save Steph’s career by moving to San Francisco.

As it turns out, a ring after the departure of the 33-year-old small forward has flipped the narrative for Steph. In other words, Curry has delivered another chip without the aid of a second superstar.

As a result, the narrative has now shifted at the expense of Durant. Fans and talking heads have started to speculate that the 12-time All-Star needed Steph’s Warriors to win a ring and not the other way round.
