There has been a lot of turnaround at the Los Angeles Lakers. After not making the playoffs, Frank Vogel was fired and Darvin Ham was hired as the new head coach for LeBron James and crew. Several assistant coaches have also left, but they made one controversial player an assistant coach. But according to reports, the former NBA champion will not be joining the Lakers.

Rasheed Wallace had initially agreed to be an assistant coach of the Lakers. Wallace was a four-time all-star and an NBA champion during his 16-year NBA career. He was known for his time with the Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trail Blazers, but he played for 6 different teams.

The former champ spent a season as an assistant coach with the Pistons and he also was an assistant coach for Memphis last year. Kevin Garnett called him a mastermind who could have helped LeBron and Anthony Davis. But now, according to reports, Wallace will not be joining the Lakers anymore.

The Lakers season is not looking optimistic

After a disappointing end to the season, the Lakers were expected to make massive changes to their roster and personnel. They started off by firing Vogel and hiring Ham. But the players have more or less remained the same and the roster still has a lot of work to do.

Many expected the Lakers to trade Russell Westbrook away, but there have been very few who are interested. And now it seems like Westbrook will remain with the Lakers for another year. The Lakers have been linked with big names, but nothing substantial has materialized so far.

They have signed a few good young players, but their roster is far from complete. The Lakers roster at present doesn’t look like contenders and they still have a lot of work to do. But the offseason is far from over, and the Lakers are sure to make a few moves before the season starts.
