This came during the Olympics of 2008. The United States of America had a team stacked with superstars and they brought back home the coveted gold medal. Moreover, Kobe’s great gesture made headlines all around the world.

Kobe Bryant took off his gold medal during the Olympics

The United States of America boasts of having some of the most iconic basketball icons represent their country in the Olympics. Stars like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan have all represented their country during the Olympics.

Interestingly enough, after the US National Team won the gold medal during the 2008 Olympics, Kobe did a wonderful gesture. While the team posed for photos with their medals, Bryant went up to Lisa Leslie. Lisa had recently won the gold medal with the women’s team. However, she did not bring out her medal during the men’s finals.

Interestingly enough, while this was Kobe’s first gold medal, it was Leslie’s fourth consecutive gold medal. Kobe said, “There’s no way I can stand here with my gold medal if she’s not wearing one in the picture.” Showing respect to her, Kobe takes off his Gold Medal and takes a picture with Leslie.

Kobe Bryant played the entirety of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers. While he has insane stats for the Lakers, he carried his good form to the national team as well.

He played in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, winning the gold medal on both occasions. Bryant averaged 13.6 points, 1.7 assists, and 2.3 rebounds for the national team.
