A cryptic social media post remembering the contributions of the late great Kobe Bryant from Jeanie Buss, the controlling owner and president of the Los Angeles Lakers, has left the NBA world in a state of utter confusion. In the post, Buss acclaimed Kobe Bryant as the greatest Laker ever and underscored how he valued the progression of the team more than his personal accomplishments.

In other words, Buss highlighted how Kobe always selflessly put the team’s interests ahead of his own. As a result, her job as a team owner and executive became much easier. Therefore, she truly misses his presence in the organization.

Meanwhile, NBA fans have started to read between the lines of the post. In fact, they have started speculating that the post is a kind of a dig at LeBron James and the current Lakers roster.

LeBron James and the current Lakers roster
The Los Angeles Lakers finished this season with a very dismal showing. In fact, they failed to qualify for the playoffs with five potential Hall-of-Famers on the roster. This kind of performance is unacceptable for a team with three MVP-caliber players.
The fans and the media mostly blamed injuries for the Lakers’ debacle. A huge chunk of the blame fell on Russell Westbrook for failing to gel properly with the team. Moreover, his poor shooting didn’t help his case.
However, a section of the media held LeBron James accountable for his influence on team formation. In fact, reports implicated James’ desire for instant results by signing ageing stars with big names to be the root cause behind the Lakers’ downfall. However, it is uncertain whether Jeanie Buss’ post insinuates a similar belief.
