The internet was abuzz with Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant’s reaction to the incident involving Boston Celtics fans and teammate Kyrie Irving. We are seeing fans’ reactions and comments on social media, and they are growing with every second.
This is not the first time that Celtics fans have expressed their anger towards Kyrie as everyone knows how much they dislike him. It all began when Irving received a $50,000 fine on Tuesday for what he did toward a Celtics fan. All of this happened during Game 1 of the Nets’ series with Boston.

At a point during the game, Kyrie showed middle fingers to a fan in addition to cursing at least one other fan. Then Durant was asked about this experience and what it is like to play on a court where everyone is not a fan of you and the anger is evident on the faces of their fans.

The statement from Kevin Durant regarding Kyrie Irving’s recent feud with Celtics fans
In regards to the reaction that Durant gave to Kyrie’s act and the amount of hate that the Celtics fans showed to him, he said: “It’s rooted in love. They once loved you. They once cheered for you and bought your merchandise,” Durant explained.
He added the following to his comment: “There’s an emotional attachment that they have to professional sports. That’s a gift and a curse, having a team in your city where you grew up. That shows that people care and people have emotions and really respect and admire who we are as individuals. Sometimes it gets a little dark and deep, but that’s just how the human brain works.”

We were happy when he got traded just didn’t like the “if you guys would like me to have me back blah blah”, stomping on the logo last year, and not reaching our expectations as a player while he was here https://t.co/DMdr9SnIKG

KD went to therapy & discussed this same topic as it relates to him https://t.co/KLckACMumc

a trade is heart breaking but imagine your favorite player willingly leaving and joining the opposition’s who beat you the year prior in a championship series you once led 3-1 https://t.co/5thr0Ph2Jn

@KDTrey5, I appreciate the sentiment and meaningful thoughts . However, as a lifelong Celtics fan who works in mental health, your musings on attachment & abandonment apply more to our feelings toward Ray Allen vs. Kyrie. Ray was…and once again IS family. Kyrie was never family https://t.co/6IMxbEzsn3
