The big dogs Brooklyn Nets are one of the firm favorites to claim the title in 2022. Possessing a trio of superstars, the chances of them being defeated seem to be dimming. However, this trio could well become a duo very soon. That is, if the recent reports of the Nets wanting to trade star player Kyrie Irving come to fruition.

Last year, Kyrie averaged close to 27 points with his franchise. It was a bitter-sweet outing for him, marred by injuries and inconsistencies. Yet, the new season brought with it new hope. Along with Kevin Durant and James Harden, he was going to set the league on fire. But due to some recent complications, this may not be possible. As reported by top NBA insider Marc Stein, the 29-year-old is pondering the idea of retirement, if the Nets were to show him the doors. It would potentially be a detrimental end to a magnificent career that has so much more to offer. Stein reports, “There is a belief in some corners of the league that [Kyrie] Irving would retire, or at least deeply ponder it, if Brooklyn [Nets] suddenly traded him.” Many giants of the sport including Shaquille O’Neal and Kendrick Perkins have agreed that the Nets should trade Kyrie. Some potential destinations for him include Minnesota and Philadelphia.
