The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles hosts a charitable Gala called the Noche de Ninos. The program was inspired by an 11-year-old terminally ill patient, Dustin Meraz. The event honors celebrities and influential people for their collaboration with the hospital. Heidi Klum and Pau Gasol were among the honorees in the 2012 edition of the event.

The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles honored the media empire Walt Disney, Lakers superstar Pau Gasol and television host, supermodel and businesswoman Heidi Klum with the “Courage to Care Award” in 2012.

Los Angeles Lakers fan Heidi Klum and 2x NBA champion Pau Gasol had once teamed for the same cause. They had a long-standing relationship with the children’s hospital. Back in 2012, Gasol described his philanthropic work as what completes him as a human being.

Even then, awards were not the end goal for Pau Gasol. He admitted that he did not know whether or not he would make a difference. But Gasol wanted to try and be responsible, given his platform and access to power and influence.

The former Lakers star has been widely applauded for his hands-on approach to these endeavors. In the past he has also invited some patients for games, talk to children, sign their bags or t-shirts, or just observed many surgeries.

Additionally, he has been a great supporter of the newest technology for the hospital’s needs as well. Pau Gasol was also a pre-med student before he started a career in professional basketball.

Incidentally, Kobe Bryant admired his team member and shared a close friendship with him. Bryant revealed Gasol’s impeccable manners, even after a bad game.

Renowned supermodel Heidi Klum partnered up with Pau Gasol

Heidi Klum has also been an active benefactor to the hospital. She makes regular visits to the hospitals, checking in on patients and handing out gifts. The gifts would range from iPad Minis to comfy pajamas or a copy of her animated film, “Arctic dogs“.

Klum had said that she loves the vision and mission of the hospital, which was to treat everyone, irrespective of their financial situation.
