The Los Angeles Lakers have taken the first step into the next season. With the arrival of Darvin Ham, the franchise seems like it is heading into better things. After a disappointing season under Frank Vogel, Darvin Ham is expected to change the tide with LeBron James by his side. And it would not be wrong to assume that they expect quick positive changes in their form and future. However, they have to be fair to Darvin Ham and give him time and the right resources.

We can speculate all the things the Lakers need for next season. New faces in the roster, more support for the evergreen LeBron James or departure of Russell Westbrook. People have given their opinions on how the Lakers side can turn their fates around. But what is most important is how Darvin Ham approaches the whole situation. That is what long time Lakers fan and American rapper Ice Cube gave his opinion about.

“I like it. I like the hire.” Ice Cube answered when asked whether he likes the appointment of Darvin Ham.

He continued, “I think you really need somebody that the players can relate to, who’s been on the floor at this point in time. You know bringing in other guys has really never you know strapped it up and been out there. I don’t know if that works for these vets [veterans], you know. So that being said, I think they need to gel.”

In all honesty, LeBron, Russ West and Anthony Davis did not have a chance to play together much. Somebody was hurt at some point in time. So as much as Frank Vogel was blamed for not being able to mesh them together, it was also a case of availability, or rather, unavailability on the players’ part.

This is Darvin Ham’s first head coach appointment. But he does not lack experience. Especially when it comes to man management. He seems the right fit also because he can manage the squad and bring the best out of everybody. At least that is what the Lakers would hope.
