Lakers Legend Magic Johnson Hits Nail on the Head With His Assessment of Luka Doncic and Dallas Mavericks

It is hard to believe that Luka Doncic is just 21 years old. While most of us are stuck in our grandma’s basement with cookie crumbs on our stomachs, he is carrying Dallas Mavericks on his back.
Against the Boston Celtics, the young Slovenian just exploded. He recorded a near triple-double stat line (31 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists). However, that wasn’t his most impressive contribution of the night. It was his breathtaking clutch shot-making.
He nailed back-t0-back three-pointers. The second was even better than the first as the game was evenly poised at 107 each at that point. He made it with just 0.1 seconds left on the shot clock. This caught the attention of a former legend.

Lakers great Magic Johnson took to Twitter to not just praise Luka but also suggested the thing which they needed to focus on in order to make the next step towards the Larry O’Brien trophy.
“Luka Dončić’s game-winning three-pointer against the Celtics last night further proves why he is a once-in-a-lifetime player & MVP candidate. The Mavericks have one of the most explosive offenses in the league led by Coach Rick Carlisle,” Magic tweeted.
“and once the Mavericks defense catches up, they’re going to be contending for NBA Championships for years to come!”

Magic previously labeled Dallas Mavericks as a disappointment
Dallas Mavericks have been terrible on defense this season. It may have been one of their reasons to open up or just rumors to float regarding a trade talk for Kristaps Porzingis. Other teams have simply run over them this season.

The biggest disappointments this season so far have been the Celtics, Mavericks, and the Bucks. The Celtics lack size, the Mavericks are not a great defensive team, and the Bucks are slow and unathletic.

To be fair to him, it has been the Mavs’ Achilles heel. Probably, the only thing that is weighing them down from title contention. Hopefully, they sort it out in the future. But for now, let’s all enjoy Luka magic in this free-flowing offensive system.
