LaMelo Ball Shockingly Called LeBron James’ Successor at Lakers: “When I See Him, I See Purple and Gold”

The Charlotte Hornets and the Lakers, both have been eliminated from playoff contention. The Hornets were led by LaMelo Ball, who put up great numbers this season. Whereas, the Lakers were single-handedly carried by LeBron James, especially in the last few games. This season was disappointing for the Lakers as well as the Hornets.

It was LaMelo’s sophomore year, and he did pretty well. Though with the Lakers, the veterans did not meet the expectations. Now that the Hornets are at a stage of building a team around young talent, if the organization doesn’t provide the superstars, players like LaMelo and Bridges might consider leaving.

Will LaMelo join LeBron James and the Lakers?

It is true that young players these days plan their next move pretty early. It really comes down to big contracts and playing with some of the best players in the league. If the youngster with his team doesn’t manage to achieve something notable, they consider leaving for good. And looking at the Hornets‘ current situation, LaMelo might want to leave the organization in the next couple of seasons.

Jay Williams, on the other hand, apart from leaving the Hornets, sees LaMelo in a Lakers jersey as well.

“… when I look at LaMelo Ball, I see nothing but purple and gold. It’s written over the way he dresses, the style in which he pulls up to games, it relates to his whole social media image, where he’s from…”, says Jay.

There is definitely some superstar potential in LaMelo. He averaged 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists in his sophomore season. There is really no guarantee whether LaMelo will play for the Lakers in the future. Although no one can deny, Los Angeles will be a great place for him.

His brother Lonzo Ball played for the Lakers alongside LeBron James in the 2018-19 season. It will be interesting to see if the same happens with LaMelo.
