The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to gain a solid player from the Los Angeles Lakers roster. Ryan would be joining forces with Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert.

Matt Ryan was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of their imminent trade deals on 15 December. Ryan played in 12 games for the franchise and averaged 3.9 points and 1.2 rebounds during that time.
