NBA legend, LeBron James has a long history of hosting charitable events and helping others in need. All of this in addition to being one of the greatest basketball players and businessmen of all time. He broke the internet with the news that he was joining the LA Lakers from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018. It was disappointing news for all Cavaliers fans.  He was one of the team’s best players.

Yet he made sure he must leave some of his reasons at Ohio to visit and to give another player like him the chance to succeed. Someone who might be struggling financially. As for James, he knows he grew up in a difficult environment without many opportunities and money. His school days were filled with missing classes. At the same time, he practiced basketball.

In order to support at-risk children, he opened the “I Promise School” at that time. James has been estimated to spend $8 million on this Ohio school, which proves he still loves Cleveland. He wants to support the city, even if he is gone.

LeBron James’s most significant career accomplishment has been the opening of a school in his hometown

James Family Foundation provides support to the school. With the aim of attracting new talent and assisting them with their needs. This school represents the greatest achievement of James’ life, as he stated in the interview.

According to ESPN, he spoke about this, saying: Walking these hallways and seeing, when I was driving here, just the streets that I walked, some of the stores are still up when I was growing up,”

 “It’s a moment I’ll never forget — and hopefully the kids, starting with the 240 kids that we have going in here right now starting today, will never forget it, either.” He added.

What makes this school special is that each class consists of 20 students per teacher and each student is entitled to get “Free Bikes, Meal and College Tuition”. This school started with 43 staff members. 

It’s not a charter school, it’s not a private school, it’s a real-life school in my hometown,” James said to ESPN. “And this is pretty cool.”
