Being the sons of a billionaire and an NBA legend, Bronny and Bryce James do enjoy certain privileges the rest of us miss out on. However, LeBron James’ liberal parenting style had also allowed the two teen boys to reportedly circumvent the laws and ‘enjoy’ a drink or two before the legal age. However, the practice has happened under the supervision of their parents, of course. This incident received a lot of flak back in 2018.

4x NBA champion LeBron James has fathered three kids, sons Bronny and Bryce, and daughter  Zhuri, with his wife, Savanah James. The eldest of the bunch is Bronny, age 18. It is not uncommon for parents to pass down their habits and interests to their children. James, a noted oenophile, once admitted that his teen sons have wine at home.

King James has not hesitated to display his affection for wine. However, the NBA world was shocked when he revealed the liberal policies surrounding alcohol consumption in his house. In the pres-conference leading up to the debut with his new team, one of the reporters asked James about the things he picked up from his younger teammates. The King responded by quoting the example of his teen boys. While singing high praise of Bronny and Bryce’s maturity, James revealed how the two drink wine in the house. James said, “My 14 and 11-year-olds drink wine. That’s how mature they are. They’ll be driving next week too.” When asked what they drink, he said whatever he and his wife Savanah are having. However, the King clarified that his wife had nothing to do with it.

Following his reveal, James unsurprisingly received major backlash from the NBA world. With the legal drinking age being 21 in the country, many fans criticized James and his parenting style. A non-profit organization called ‘Mothers against drunk driving’, dedicated to preventing drunk driving and underage drinking, strongly disapproved of James’s admission through an awareness post.

Bronny, now 18, is only a few years away from enjoying a drink with his dad and not getting backlash from millions. In his 20th season, James now focuses on his next big goal; to play with his son in the NBA. It seems like James has beaten father time for good, and if he stays healthy, he might as well make it a reality.
