The Los Angeles Lakers season is very close to being done. After the loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Lakers are a full game behind San Antonio Spurs for the final play-in spot. But their stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis don’t believe their season is done yet.

In the post-game press conference, the duo was disappointed that they didn’t win the game, but they weren’t ready to throw in the towel yet. They said that their focus is on the next game and they would want to come away with a victory. The duo also said that they can go 5-0 in the remaining games. This seems easier said than done as they will have to face Denver(Twice), Golden State, and Phoenix. James also said that until the moment they are eliminated, they will not stop and keep pushing forward.

The Battle for the final play-in spot is heating up

With the Pelicans coming away with the victory, they have more or less secured their spot in the play-in. They are 3 games above the Lakers and there are only 5 games remaining. So it seems it’s going to come down to the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Just like the Lakers, the Spurs do not have an easy schedule. They play the Warriors, Dallas, Minnesota, and the Nuggets. All these teams are above the Spurs and battling for playoff positioning. So it’s unlikely that these teams are going to rest stars. And it’s the same way for the Lakers. It will be a very exciting race to see who can lock up the final play-in spot. Both teams will give it their best, but the Lakers will need to take two more games than the Spurs. Their task looks steep and daunting, but they will be at their full strength. It’s now up to the superstars to show up and prove their mettle.
